Age Scotland is appealing for volunteers and stock donations for its new charity shop in Newington, due to open on 30th September. The shop will be the Charity’s second in Edinburgh; the first is in Stockbridge.

Age Scotland is looking for volunteers to staff the tills, sort stock and help customers. Volunteers will make a real difference to older people in Scotland, gain new skills and experience in a retail environment, make new friends and have lots of fun.

The Charity is also appealing for good quality donations of clothing, books, videos, DVDs, toys, games, ornaments and general household goods to stock the shop. Profits from sales of these items support Age Scotland’s work across Scotland, including an information Helpline for older people – 0845 125 9732 – and grants for local older people’s groups.  Stock donations in Edinburgh can be collected by the charity.

Age Scotland Retail General Manager, Jason Elder, said: “It’s really exciting to be opening a new shop in one of Edinburgh’s busiest spots.  We are working hard to make it a great place to shop, and a great environment for our paid staff and volunteers. With some extra volunteer help and generous stock donations we can make it a big success.”
