The Lifestyle Company Scotland is Scotland’s first lifestyle management and concierge service. The trio all left jobs in the lifestyle management sector in London to bring the same quality of service offered down south to clients north of the border. Effectively they do everything and anything from sourcing ‘must have’ items to waiting in for the plumber – they get the job done.

What is the business book you recommend that everyone should read?

We are business women and entrepreneurs, but we learn as we go. Owning your own business means throwing yourself in at the deep end – no book can teach you that. We say read the paper and keep up to date with current affairs but save bedtime reading for a bit of Lee Child or J.K. Rowling!

What do you think are your business strengths and weaknesses?

There are three of us which means many strengths and weaknesses! Our age is a big weakness as we can only have packed so much knowledge into our short 26 years. Our biggest strength is our unadulterated drive to make our business a huge success.

What was the defining moment on your career path that has got you where you are now?

Sitting in a pub in Chelsea with the sudden relisation that it wasn’t ‘all about London’. We were moaning about delays on the Victoria line and long working hours over a glass of vino. We suddenly all had a Eureka moment that we didn’t have to be there!

How do you spend your spare time?

Due to the nature of our work we are constantly on call – if a client needs something on a lazy Sunday then we have to get up and get it done. That said, we spend most of our spare time like the majority of young professionals with a nice glass of wine amongst friends.

Do you think you achieve a good work/life balance?

Hmmm I think we all really try to but keeping a young business like ours going takes a lot of time and effort.

What makes Edinburgh the best location for you to live and/or work?

We love everything about Edinburgh – after moving here a year ago none of us have ever looked back!

What is your special area of Edinburgh, or special place in Edinburgh and why?

There seems to be a bit of a theme emerging but at TLC we love to mix business with pleasure. We can normally be found doing business at either Ricks, Tigerlily or Indigo Yard.

What would you consider the pinnacle of your career?

We managed to secure Bob McDowell,  Vice President of Microsoft, to come over from the US to speak at our launch. That was amazing, and the feedback from the launch was phenomenal.

Which networking groups in Edinburgh have you found particularly useful?

We are massive fans of Winning Entrepreneurs. We were unconvinced by networking groups to start with but think it is all about finding the right one. Winning Entrepreneurs couldn’t be more helpful and perfect for networking with clients.

Who are your business heroes?

Dame Stephanie Shirley and Ann Gloag OBE. Not only because they are truly inspirational women, but also because of the enormous amount they do and give to charities.

Describe your typical day for us.

We never really have a ‘typical day’ as we never know what our clients are going to want next!

Your plan of attack for the next 12 months?

TLC want to grow, grow, grow!
