A huge Olympic logo could be draped across Edinburgh Castle’s walls as a giant advert for the London Olympics.

Games organisers have lodged plans to attach an aluminium Olympic insignia to the north face of the castle.

The scheme is part of a vision to promote the English event as “inclusive and UK-wide.”

  1. Under no circumstances can we allow the castle to be cheapened by positioning an Olympic logo on the ramparts. The notion is ridiculous, will we see similar schemes at Buckingham Palace or The Houses of Parliament? Next step will be a huge McDonalds logo!!

  2. Of course The Olympic logo should be highlighted in Edinburgh. In lights perhaps like Christmas lights along Princes St. But no way should our beautiful ancient castle be diminished by such a logo!!!

  5. Why advertise the LONDON OLYMPICS in Edinburgh after all it is the London games . The rest of Britain gets no benefit from these games apart from the BILL to pay for them.

  7. I cannot believe that we would DISFIGURE the most famous national monument in Scotland with an advertisement for something that is happening in London!!!!!!
    Most of the people I talk to have absolutely NO interest in the Olympic games. This is another con, trying to convince the Scottish people that they will benefit from something happening down south. If they want to stick their rings anywhere let us see them stick them on Buckingham Palace. Keep the games in England.

  8. A total joke this has even made the news this is the most disrespectful idea from our Southern Neighbor i have ever seen. To try an cheapen our National monument to promote the LONDON olympics. Go stick them on the tower of London or better still Buckingham palace and see the reaction down south. Where best to put the rings? Heres an idea how about LONDON!!!
