Zazou Narrowboat Café hosts Christmas crafts and storytelling for Children of all ages on the 10-11th and 17-18th December. Make a beanie snowman, decorate a funky Christmas fridge magnet and enjoy a story with Edinburgh Author and storyteller Aunty Emily , otherwise known as Emily Dodd.
Board the only canal boat café in Edinburgh to fill up on soup, enjoy a mulled punch and be part of the story of a swan who wants to sing and a sleepy squirrel who tries to teach him. Look out for a splash and a crash as a storm is recreated inside the boat. Will the Swan remember the song? How did the lightning tree on Harrison Park get its scar? Can you hear sleigh bells?
Announcing the Christmas weekends Zazou Manager, Steve, said:-
This will be the first time Zazou has hosted an event like this and I’m very excited about it. The response from customers so far has been very positive and I hope this will be the start of further seasonal events with Emily.”
Storyteller and local Author, Emily Dodd, said:
“It’s been fun experimenting with old socks to make snowmen, they’re really easy for children to make and they look great too, I can’t wait to see the children’s crafty creations.
“The fridge magnets are fab too, the children can decorate their own Christmas tree magnet with metallic pens and sequins. The magnets are also pegs so can hold pictures or be pegged on to your clothes as a badge.”
“I launched my first book on The Leith Agency Canal Barge earlier this year so it’s lovely to be back on a boat sharing stories at Chrismas. I’ve really enjoyed working with Steve from Zazou. We’ve had fun planning these exciting events.
Stories will take place on the hour every hour from 11pm to 3pm Saturday and Sunday 10-11th and 17-18th December. Crafts are available all day, suggested donation of £1 per craft made. Snowflake making and story time is free.
The story adaptation and crafts were created by Emily Dodd especially for this event. For more information pop into the cafe, or check out www.zazoucruises.co.uk or @zazouedinburgh on Twitter.
