Laura Levites: Selfhelpless, Gilded Balloon Teviot, 31 July to 26 August (except 13) 2:45pm, £9/8 (£8/7 concessions)

Laura Levites enters the stage in a jovial manner but as she invites the audience into her life, it’s soon evident that times for her have not been so jovial. At all.

Raw and emotional, there are several moments in the production that Levites wants you to find as amusing as she does, but most are too afraid to even move as to not cause offence. Her current contented mind-set has helped her bravely overcome so much, you cannot help but to be intrigued by this animated, vibrant figure.

In this interview with The Edinburgh Reporter she puts ‘Selfhelpless’ into her own words and describes her Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2013 experience so far:-

Her consistently demonstrated fearlessness and ability to reveal so much about her life is commendable. Despite the vast quantity of information she has to share, she craves a verbal response from the crowd, with agreement or disagreement actively encouraged.
