Joe Lycett – If Joe Lycett Then You Should’ve Put a Ring On It, Pleasance Upstairs 19:15, until 25 Aug, £10/9 (£8.50/£7.50)

Many comedians title their shows with no actual meaning behind the name, which is what Joe Lycett has done this year; he admits this at the start of the act, naming two other possible ‘punny’ names, before entering the stage in a relaxed manner, as if he has been doing stand-up for far longer than he actually has.

It is soon evident that Lycett is a self-assured individual – self-assured about his hatred for large companies with poor customer service, self-assured about his sexual orientation and self-assured that one day, after he no longer wants to be in the stand-up comedy community, he will be the host of an game show, which he trials during the set with the help of audience interaction.

He attempts to weave a message into the performance and with a theme of ‘naughty and nice’ and how everyone has both of these traits within, Lycett delves into his recent mischief which is relatively funny, but mainly due to his storytelling skills.
