2011_10 Police signs 11

Police in Edinburgh have arrested two men following a disturbance in the city’s Leith Walk in the early hours of today.

The men, both aged 26 have been charged with serious assault and will appear in Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

The incident outside the Volunteer Arms, just after 1am resulted in two other men requiring hospital treatment for their injuries.

A 31 year old man has been released from hospital after receiving 36 stitches to his back while a 23 year old man is receiving treatment in St John’s Hospital, Livingston for a head injury.

Police are keen to speak to another man who was in the vicinity at the time. He is described as white, in his early 20s and of heavy build. He was wearing a black top, light jacket, blue jean and has light brown short hair.

Acting Detective Sergeant Bob Richardson said: “We are keen to speak to this man who we believe was in the area at the time of the incident. We would urge him to contact us on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800555111.

“In addition if anyone has any information or witnessed the attack, we are keen to hear from them.”
