Edinburgh Leisure is offering free swimming sessions for primary school children at three pools:- Dalry Swim Centre, Gracemount Leisure Centre and Leith Victoria Swim Centre. All details of times and contact details are here…..

And remember under fives swim for free all year round anyway at all Edinburgh Leisure pools.

Edinburgh Innertube Map explain that work to upgrade Craigleith Junction on the cycle path which is now about to start and which will take a couple of months to complete.

The idea is to solve the drainage problems, undergrowth at the edge of the path and the problems in having cyclists and pedestrians on the same path.

More details here.

Council Leader Andrew Burns has an allotment which he photographs regularly and which forms a large part of his blog.

Allotments are a big part of many people’s lives but there is a dearth of available plots. Most allotments in the city have a waiting list of several years. If you are interested in putting your name down then you can do so here.

However there is another way of getting a garden to dig, or getting your garden dug for you…..Edinburgh Garden Partners is a kind of dating service for those who want to grow things and those who have a garden which is just too big for them….

And in North Edinburgh there is North Edinburgh Grows who have a new garden for everyone to help with. Edible Estates in Edinburgh has several gardening projects across the city, and the Green Gym has a community garden at the Calders in Wester Hailes.  Do you know of any others? Then let us know as we would love to feature them. We made a little video about Duddingston Community Garden last year:-

Balerno Village Screen have a charity event on 1 March when they are showing Salmon Fishing in the Yemen to raise funds for Childreach International.  Tickets here!
