Community Windpower Ltd and East Coast FM are proud to announce that they have formed a Working Partnership. As part of this partnership, Community Windpower Ltd who will be a Patron of the radio station for the next 2 years, have donated £12,000 to East Coast FM.

The £12,000 donation, which is from Community Windpower’s Aikengall Community Wind Farm, will be used by East Coast FM to enable the completion of their second studio and to equip it with the required broadcasting equipment: broadcast system and computers, broadcast microphones, interview recorder, cables, accessories. The completed studio will be named after Community Windpower Ltd in recognition of their support.

By finalising this second studio, East Coast FM can continue and expand their mission of broadcasting with local young people. Currently, broadcasting training is to be provided for youngsters from The Edinburgh Blind School and youngsters with special needs from the local area as well as working with seven local secondary schools and their pupils to run ‘The School Bell’ programme on weekday evenings.

Community Windpower Ltd and BeGreen Dunbar & District are looking forward to working closely with everyone at East Coast FM, to developing this partnership further, and to supporting this local community radio station as it grows and strengthens.

Ian Robertson, Station Manager at East Coast FM said, “This donation from Community Windpower is going to make a big difference to all the team at East Coast Fm. We’ve also been lucky enough to receive a donation from Awards for All for an additional £10,000 and we are delighted we can now upgrade our current studio and build a second studio which will mean we will have even more opportunities for training and working with us. I’d like to thank them for this valuable donation and we look forward to getting the new studio up and running.”
