The Foul Clenger in the claustrophobic closes of Old Town EdinburghTHE CAPITAL’S ‘FOUL CLENGER’ SET TO EMERGE FROM SQUALID STREET OF SORROWS AS THE EDINBURGH DUNGEON LAUNCH SPECTACULAR NEW SHOW

Crawling out from the depths of time, The Edinburgh Dungeon’s Foul Clenger is set to emerge from the claustrophobic closes of Old Town Edinburgh this month to reveal horrifying truths from one of the darkest, disease filled periods in history as Scotland’s top attraction for scary fun launches its latest show.

The exciting new show, ‘Street of Sorrows: The true story of Edinburgh’s underground plague close’ launches on 28 March 2014, immersing guests in the filth and deprivation of the capital in the 17th century – with the Dungeon’s usual injection of cheeky humour and  thrilling new special effects.

Taking on the job that no one wanted, the sinister Foul Clenger will stalk the historic underground streets of Edinburgh once again to drag victims of the plague from their disease ridden homes in a mercenary bid to cash in on the corpses and make a tidy profit on vacant premises.

As the Foul Clenger steps out of the shadows and takes up residency at the Edinburgh Dungeon, visitors will be left with a lingering fear of the contagious disease as they are haunted by the crime and fast flowing filth once rife in the capital.  With overcrowded tenements and foul conditions adding to the mix, the threat of danger is never far away.

Johnny Campbell, General Manager of the Edinburgh Dungeon, commented: “The Foul Clenger is a sinister character that seeks to reap the benefits of a panicked, plague-ridden city so all visitors better be on high alert as he creeps around looking for victims to shift!

“With the launch of Street of Sorrows, the Edinburgh Dungeon is set to bring to life the famous story of Edinburgh’s plague-ridden closes. With the threat of disease and destruction throughout, visitors will be lucky to make a close escape.”

Street of Sorrows will launch on 28 March adding a new twist to the non-stop action and hilarity of the Dungeon. With 11 live-actor shows, state of the art special effects, 360º theatrical sets, two heart stopping rides along with gripping storytelling by hero characters, visitors can be sure to experience an unforgettable 80-minute interactive journey through 1000 years of Scotland’s gruesome history.
