The Lord Provost the Rt Hon Donald Wilson was a knock out at the official launch of a charity challenge which Edinburgh boxing coach, Bradley Welsh, is undertaking between 22 and 23 April 2014 at Bradley’s Gym 555 Gorgie Road. The gym lies in the Lord Provost’s Ward so it was appropriate that he should don the boxing gloves and help Welsh to get his campaign underway.

Bradley aims to make a Guinness World Record attempt by completing 360 x 3 minute rounds of pad work (boxing fitness training) over a period of 24 hours from 7 pm on 22 April to 7 pm on 23 April at his gym. He is only planning short breaks of 1 minute between each round – and hopes that the final rounds will be outside in a portable boxing ring. Given that his gym is on the fourth floor it will be tricky to make it down to the car park in under a minute!

The fit young boxing coach, a former ABA champion, is attempting this record in memory of his late mother and all funds raised will be donated to Edinburgh children’s charities through Spifox (the Scottish Property Industry Festival of Christmas) who are partnering this initiative.

Some Edinburgh companies such as HBJ Gateley Solicitors have already pledged their support. If you would like to be one of Bradley’s boxing opponents on the day, and are prepared to pay for the privilege, then get in touch with him by phoning or texting him on 07525477330.
