Hibernian under-20s beat Haddington Athletic yesterday in Michael Motion’s Testimonial match with Callum Crane, Jordan Sinclair, Neil Martyniuk and Scott Martin all finding the net.

With several regulars involved with the first team squad against Dundee United Ā at Easter Road, Head of Academy Coaching James McDonaugh was forced to reshuffle the pack and he says he was delighted with the overall outcome.

McDonaugh said: “We were missing eight players that would have been contenders to start the game, so I was a bit apprehensive going into it.

“However these young players put a huge smile on my face; their effort, energy and desire to play was excellent.

“We played well first half, but couldn’t convert good chances. We improved in the second half and I have to say, the goals were of the highest quality.

“There were four long-range goals and three of them ended up in the top corner. To finish the game with two 16-year-olds, two 15-year-olds and a 14 year old was also very satisfying.”

Hibernian under-20s: Campbell, Dunsmore, McGregor, Martyniuk, Mckay, McCaffrey, Sinclair, Crane, Martin, Hendry, Watson. Subs used: Shaw, Donaldson, Breen, Porteous. (unused) Clements.

Hibernian under-20s are back in action on Wednesday night when they visit Selkirk – the hometown of all-time great Bobby Johnstone – for a friendly fixture at Yarrow Park, kick off 6.45pm.
