The Edinburgh Reporter Fire Engine at Tollcross Fire Station

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to attend a serious road traffic collision at Carnegie Road, Deans Industrial Estate, Deans, Livingston this morning.

Operations Control Edinburgh received a call from The Scottish Ambulance Service at 11.39am and sent appliances from Bathgate and Livingston to the scene.  The collision involved one car and one articulated lorry with one man trapped in the car.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting gear to remove the driver door of the car and safely extricated the man using a rescue board.

The casualty was placed into the care of The Scottish Ambulance Service who attended to him until the arrival of Medic One.  He was then taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary suffering from multiple injuries.

The road remains closed and Police Scotland are carrying out an accident investigation.
