Police are appealing for witnesses following a break-in and theft at Duncanson & Edwards pawnbrokers and jewellers.

The incident happened at around 4:40pm on Monday, January 19, on the corner of Queen Street and Frederick Street.

Staff were inside the premises when two male suspects smashed a front window and stole a Rolex yaughtmaster II 18ct white gold watch valued at £18,000.

The suspects, both of whom are believed to be in their mid to late 20’s, were seen running from the scene in the direction of Queen Street Gardens West.

The first suspect is described as a white, slim build male who is between 5’10 inches and 6’2 inches tall. He was wearing dark/navy cotton tracksuit bottoms, a dark waist length jacket and a dark coloured beanie hat with a white horizontal line/motif. He was carrying a dark coloured rucksack with shoulder straps.

The second suspect is described as a white, slim build male who is around 5’10 to 6’2 tall with short dark hair, dark beard with thin dark eyebrows, brown eyes and a round face. He was wearing dark cotton tracksuit bottoms and hooded jumper.

Anyone who can assist police in identifying the men responsible is asked to come forward.

DI Grant Johnston said: “This was a brazen daylight break-in that left staff shaken. I am looking to speak to members of the public who were in the area around the time of this incident and saw the two men or saw anything they believe was connected to the incident.

“I would ask anyone with information to contact police immediately on 101.”
