Congo have reached the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals.which means Hibs’ striker Dominique Malonga will be missing from Alan Stubbs’ squad for this week’s home game against Raith Rovers

Malonga was an unused substitute in the African sides a 2-1 win against Burkina Faso.

Congo’s quarter-final will take place on Saturday against Tunisia, Cape Verde Islands, Congo DR or Zambia.

The 26 year old has been in fine form ince his move from Italian outfit Cesena but Hibs have been scorng freely during his absence, with three against Falkirk, five against Cowdenbeath and two against Queen of the South.

Elsewhere, two former Hibs players were involved in dramatic FA cup ties over the weekend.

Michael Nelson played well for Cambridge in their 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Friday night and was nominated for BBC’s man of the match award, whilst Filipe Morais went one better and actually scored against Chelsea in Bradford City’s amazing 4-2 win at Stamford Bridge.
