A man who carried out three armed robberies at bookmakers in Edinburgh last year has been given a sentence of seven years at the High Court in Edinburgh today.

Sean Orman, who is 24 years old, pled guilty to assault and robbery at the three bookmakers in September and October last year in which he stole three figures sums of cash.

On 24 September he robbed the branch of William Hill on Bernard Street, on 29 September he robbed Ladbrokes on Longstone Road and on 6 October he robbed William Hill on Balgreen Road.

Orman was arrested and charged after a witness recognised the description of a car he made his getaway in.

DCI Stuart Houston said: “We welcome the sentencing of Sean Orman who targeted three bookmakers in the city, stole quantities of cash from each one and caused great distress to those working in the premises at the time. This sends a clear message that we will not tolerate this behaviour in our communities, and perpetrators will be brought before the courts.”
