Hibernian Ladies started their new season with an 8-0 win over Hamilton Academical  in the Scottish Women’s Premier League, first round contest at Albyn Park, Broxburn on Sunday with goals coming from Joelle Murray (2), Lucy Graham (2), Katey Turner (2), Lia Tweedie and Clare Williamson.

Manager Chris Roberts was delighted with his side’s performance, and told the club website: “It was a professional performance in horrific playing conditions.

“In fairness to Hamilton they are a young side; they worked hard, were compact and tried to hit us on the counter-attack, so they kept us on our toes.

“We dominated through possession and it was particularly pleasing to see the goals spread about, coming from all over, from centre half to centre forward.

“In the end it was a comfortable result but the girls worked hard to make it that way.”

“With so many players being away with Scotland this week, it was important to keep everyone fresh.

“We have a competitive squad and are able to make changes to the team whilst remaining strong.

“It was also fantastic to welcome Siobhan back from injury.  She has put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes to get back to full fitness.

“Having everyone fit will give me a selection headache but it is a problem I welcome.”
