Police  are appealing for information following a discharge of a firearm outside a house in West Pilton March around  in the early hours of this morning.

Two men were seen parking a dark coloured small hatchback car within Granton Mains Avenue, before going to a property on West Pilton March and shortly afterwards shots were fired at a front door.

They were seen running back to the car before driving away at speed along Granton Mains Avenue towards West Granton Road.

No one was injured and police are appealing to the public for their assistance.

The men are described as being short in stature and only slightly taller than the car they were travelling in.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Houston said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen either the vehicle or the males prior to and following the incident in the Granton Mains area.

“Officers are now conducting enquiries in the community and I would appeal to anyone to come forward and speak with the officers regarding this incident and any other previous suspicious activity in the area.

“There will be additional uniformed patrols in the area in the coming days and we will continue to work closely with the public in order to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“Anyone with information that can assist with our ongoing enquiries is asked to call 101 or, alternatively through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
