There will be loads of people running around the city’s streets today in the Morrisons Great Edinburgh Run so here is where you should go to watch them (or indeed avoid the area!).

Good luck to all those taking part.

The City of Edinburgh Council is a supporter of the event, which will trace the attached route from Arthur’s Seat to Princes Street and the Royal Mile, through the Meadows and back to Holyrood Park. The latest weather forecasts predict Edinburgh will be sunny and dry on Sunday, offering the perfect conditions for runners and spectators.

Councillor Richard Lewis, Festivals and Events Champion for the City of Edinburgh Council, said: “The Great Edinburgh Run has become a firm fixture on the Capital’s Spring calendar and has proved popular with runners and spectators alike. Over 5,000 people are set to take part this weekend, and with the backdrop of Edinburgh’s ancient volcano Arthur’s Seat and spectacular landmarks like the Scott Monument, it’s certainly a unique setting for a race. Good luck to the runners and spectators and enjoy yourselves!”

The Edinburgh Reporter was at the Commonwealth Pool yesterday and while driving we saw some pretty aggressive barriers and cones already laid out along the whole route of the run.

It was a pity as it was a lovely day and people had come out in droves to go for a walk in Holyrood Park. Finding a parking space for some was decidedly tricky! It is a pity this work could not have been left until yesterday evening when everyone had gone home.

TSB has announced CCLASP as the Bank’s first Local Charity Partner for three branches in Edinburgh, Leigh, Goldenacre and Portobello.  The partnership was unveiled on 14th April 2015, by local Bank Manger Ritchie Bowman who pledged a £300 donation CCLASP to kick-start their Partnership.

Instead of having a centrally chosen Charity of the Year, TSB Partners across Britain are empowered to recognise local causes which share the Bank’s passion for helping local communities thrive.   CCLASP was nominated locally for the work it does in Edinburgh to support children who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness.

By becoming a Charity Partner, CCLASP will benefit from fundraising activities by TSB Partners working in the Leith, Goldenacre and Portobello branches.  In addition, TSB is also encouraging its Partners to spend a day, when they would normally be working, out in their community supporting their Local Charity Partner with their time and skills.

CCLASP was selected from a shortlist of charities nominated by local TSB customers and Partners.  TSB’s branches in Leith, Goldenacre and Portobello will now aim to raise as much money as possible for them throughout 2015 to support the work the charity does in the local community.

An Edinburgh College illustration student walked away with the people’s choice award in a competition to design a children’s book cover for city publisher Floris Books.

The Kelpies Design & Illustration Prize 2015 challenged entrants to design a new book cover for Allan Campbell McLean’s classic cold war spy adventure The Hill of the Red Fox.

Edinburgh College HND Visual Communication: Illustration student Ana Elez Rodrigo won the people’s choice award, receiving more than 1,200 votes in an online poll, and received a £75 cash prize. Fellow illustration student David Lymburn was also shortlisted in the competition.

The winners were announced at a ceremony at Leith’s creative business hub Creative Exchange, run by Edinburgh College and the City of Edinburgh Council. Read more here.
