A woman had to be rescued by Firefighters after she slipped and fell 30ft down a hill while out walking on Arthur’s Seat on Saturday afternoon.
Edinburgh Operations Control mobilised line rescue crews from Tollcross and Newcraighall fire stations along with an appliance from Marionville to the scene.
Firefighters secured the casualty into a basket stretcher and using line rescue hauling equipment brought her safely back up the hill.
She was passed to the ambulance service suffering from a broken ankle and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.
An SFRS spokesperson said: “We are often called to assist people on Arthur’s Seat especially coming into the summer months. It is important to take care if you decide to go walking or running in this area and we recommend you stick to clear paths. Make sure have your mobile phone with you and let people know your plans and when you are expected back.
“It takes time and a number of resources to ensure our highly experienced line rescue teams can risk assess each rescue situation and can carry out a safe extrication.
“Sometimes it can be difficult to get access to people trapped or injured and the conditions can be precarious.
“We would urge people to take care on Arthur’s Seat and Salisbury Crags and stay safe while enjoying exploring round the area.”
