Hibernian Ladies beat Inverness City 8-0 at the Hibernian Training Centre yesterday  thanks to goals from Abi Harrison (2), Lia Tweedie (2), Lucy Graham, Joelle Murray and Lizzie Arnot plus an own goal.

The win keeps Hibs level with Glasgow City at the top of the Scottish Women’s Premier League.

After the game Assistant Coach Claire Ditchburn told the club website:  “It was another professional performance from the girls to get such a positive result and from a coach’s point of view, it was pleasing to see the goals spread about.

“There is a good atmosphere and environment around the club just now and that showed in the girls’ performance today.

“However we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves; as happy as we are with how the season has gone, it is only at the half-way stage.

“It will be important that we maintain our form in the second half of the season although we know that will be even more challenging because you are only playing the top clubs.

“We are delighted with how the first half of the campaign has gone and we will return refreshed, hungry and determined when the league resumes in a few weeks.

“We were all pleased to give Mhari (Smith) the opportunity to make her senior debut because she really deserves it.

“She did well when she came on and it will have been a fantastic learning experience for her.”

Hibernian Ladies: Reid, McMahon, Murray, Hunter, Johnstone, Brownlie (Cornet), Robertson, Graham, Harrison (Smith), Arnot, Tweedie. Unused Sub: Fife.

Referee: Lorraine Clark.

Elsewhere, Hibernian Development were also picking up three points as the second string won 3-0 away from home against Cumbernauld Colts.
