Two teenagers have been charged as Operation RAC continues to target housebreakers in Edinburgh.

A home in Dreghorn Loan was broken into on the evening of November 24th, during which time various items of jewellery were stolen along with a Nissan Qashqai.

The vehicle was subsequently recovered in Hyvot Bank Avenue on February 18th and enquiries have been continuing to identify those responsible.

As a result, a 19-year-old man was detained on Tuesday June 2nd and will now be reported for this incident along with two motoring offences.

Between 9pm and 10pm on Thursday May 14th, the Edinburgh Research and Innovation centre in Roxburgh Street was broken into and various items were taken from inside.

At around 11.10pm on the same evening, a flat in Nicholson Street was also subject to a housebreaking and theft and officers believed both crimes were linked.

Following continued Operation RAC enquiries, a 15-year-old male was arrested yesterday before being charged. He will be reported to the Children’s Reporter.

Superintendent Alan Porte said: “Regardless of when or where these crimes take place, Operation RAC will pursue offenders and bring them to justice.

“I would again urge the public to assist us with our efforts to prevent housebreaking by taking the necessary measures to secure their homes and businesses.
