After packing out the Voodoo Rooms last year with her work-in-progress show, TWERK IN PROGRESS, Abi returns to Edinburgh with the finished show, DOWNTOWN ABI.
It’s a show all about being a “downtown” girl, singing rock and roll and kicking the Lady Dowager and her ilk where it hurts; a show about using your skills to deal with uppity people on the Tube and a show about Welsh debauchery, the perils of singing karaoke in Moscow and an unfortunate incident with Jeremy Clarkson in Harrods.
So, go downtown with Abi and her Labrador Al Qaeda and find out what happens when your parents want you to be an opera singer and you end up tap-dancing in a pig costume, promoting a butchers shop. See what happens when you mix a Chelsea girl with rock n’ roll!
Expect jokes, music and impressions from Abi Roberts who, with her big hair, exploded onto the stand-up comedy scene in 2011, after a number of years as a session vocalist and cabaret performer. Abi was a Finalist and Runner-Up in the London Comedy Store’s Costa Light Comedy Competition in 2012, a Finalist and Runner-Up in the 2012 Harrogate Theatre’s Comedian of the Year and took the Audience Award at the same festival. She is also a winner of the Bristol Old Vic’s prestigious Peter Ackermann Comedy Award for alumni working in live comedy.
Abi is fast-becoming one of the hot tickets on the stand-up comedy circuit and is frequently to be found opening the show at some of the UK’s biggest and well-known comedy clubs.
