TER Edinburgh Tram

A man has been knocked down by a tram earlier this afternoon in an incident at Lochside Avenue

A spokesman for Edinburgh Trams said:

“We can confirm that there was a collision between a tram and a pedestrian at Lochside Avenue earlier today.  We supported emergency services at the scene and suspended services between Edinburgh Park Central and the Airport for around 90 minutes to give them the access they needed to support the injured man. We’ll be investigating the incident but we’re very confident that our driver and the wider team reacted appropriately.”

The man was reported to be conscious when he was taken in an ambulance to hospital.

Edinburgh Trams have been running since 31 May and in the first year they carried over 5 million passengers. A 14 year-old girl was ‘glanced’ by a tram in the first week of operation, and there have been some collisions with other vehicles since then.
