Police are appealing for witnesses following a theft from a city school which happened sometime between 6pm on Tuesday 4th August and 7.15am on Wednesday 5th August at Craigour Park Primary.

During this a 16-metre roll of Astroturf, which had recently been installed on the sports pitch, were stolen from the site.

The cost of the damage is still being estimated and police are now urging anyone who can assist with their inquiry to come forward.

Inspector Graeme Nisbet said: “The theft of this new artificial surface will result in further cost for the school and will mean a delay for the pupils before they can use the pitch again.

“We are keen to trace those responsible for this selfish act and I would ask that anyone, who remembers seeing any suspicious activity around the school between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, contacts police immediately.

“In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to this investigation should also get in touch.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
