Hibernian Ladies beat Celtic 1-0 in East Kilbride on Sunday afternoon thanks to a goal from Scotland defender Siobhan Hunter

Afterwards Hibs’ manager Chris Roberts told the club website: “At this stage of the season every game is a big game so I am pleased we picked up all three points.

“We had to deal with a team that made the game difficult and scrappy for us but the girls were fantastic and got the job done.

“It wasn’t the prettiest 90 minutes for any neutrals to watch but I was pleased to see us grind out the result.

“We defended solidly and were always in control.  Celtic are a young, confident, aggressive team and the way they play is very impressive.

“They were hard to break down, although, that said, we could’ve scored a few more and were certainly worthy winners in the end.

“Our back four and goalkeeper have been fantastic recently and have really given us a platform to build on in games.”

“Shiv  (Hunter) was due that one because she had gone so close to scoring against Aberdeen recently.

“It was a great header, right into the top corner of the net and worthy of winning any game.  Our match highlights will be out on Tuesday and it’s certainly one to watch.”

Hibernian Ladies: Fife, Smith, Murray, Hunter, Williamson, Robertson, Cornet (Brownlie 70’), Arthur, Arnot, Richards, Harrison. Unused substitutes: Johnstone, Tweedie.

The girls are in action again this weekend when they face Forfar Farmington in the Scottish Cup at Station Park, Forfar.  Kick-off is 2pm.
