An Edinburgh-based property management company is giving more groups the chance to receive funding by extending its community bursary scheme application deadline.

Applications to the Ross and Liddell community bursary scheme should now be submitted by Friday 11 September – and the firm is encouraging local organisations to apply for this vital funding boost.

Ross and Liddell offers grants of up to ÂŁ500 to community groups across Scotland that make a vital difference to their local area.

Irene Devenny, managing director at Ross and Liddell, said: “We’ve had an overwhelming response to the 2015 community bursary so far this year, but we want even more groups to get involved, so we’ve decided to extend the deadline.

“We set up the community bursary in 2011 because we believe that it is important for Ross and Liddell to play an active role in the communities it supports.

“Since the community bursary was established, we have provided support to more than 100 groups across the country. It’s always great to hear about how groups have used our support to make a real difference and demonstrates that the funding has an incredibly positive impact.

“Last year was the scheme’s most successful year: we received more than 300 applications and choosing the groups that would receive the funding was an extremely difficult task.

“I would encourage everyone involved with community groups and organisations to apply to the scheme.  We are looking forward to supporting even more community groups in 2015.”

Groups can apply for a bursary by visiting www.ross-liddell.com and downloading an application form.

Applications should be submitted by Friday 11 September.

In celebration of this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Musicroom will be holding ukulele workshops on 8th and 9th August – from 1pm to 3pm.

Fringe Festival regular and cabaret diva Tricity Vogue, has performed her hit show at the festival for the last five consecutive years and will be leading both workshops.

The first hour of the workshops is aimed at beginners and teaching basic chords and strumming patterns. The second hour will invite attendees to play along to Tricity’s own swinging tunes, which will then be performed in a final group performance.

Musicroom will be happy to lend ukuleles for the session and will also offer 30% off all Pure Tone ukuleles purchased on the day, plus a 10% discount on all other ukuleles and a £5 voucher when customers spend over £30 in-store.

The workshops are free, but any donations to our darling diva would be much appreciated (recommend donation of ÂŁ5).

To book your place, please visit the Musicroom at 41 Shandwick Place, Edinburgh, EH2 4RG, contact the store on 0131 221 0041 or email edinburgh@musicroom.com.
