2011_10 Police signs 5

Police have announced that a 65-year-old man has died following a serious road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a bus on Wednesday 19 August.

Officers were called to Frederick Street at 10.45am and the 65-year-old pedestrian was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries. He was subsequently transferred to Western General Hospital and sadly passed away earlier this evening (Friday 28 August).

Sergeant Ross Drummond of Road Policing said: “Our sincere condolences go to the family and friends of the 65-year-old, who have requested that their privacy be respected at this very difficult time.

“Our investigation continues into the full circumstances surrounding the collision and I’d like to thank the witnessess who have so far come forward and assisted with our enquiries.

“Anyone with further information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
