2011_10 Police signs 6

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road collision which happened around 10.45 am this morning at the junction of Frederick Street and Princes Street when a pedestrian was involved in a collision with a bus.

A 65-year-old man has been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries and has subsequently been transferred to the Western General Hospital.

Road closures will be in place on Princes Street and Frederick Street for the next few hours to allow accident investigations to take place.

Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

Sergeant Keith Denholm said: “This incident has resulted in a man sustaining serious injuries and I am keen to hear from anyone who saw it happen or who has any other information that can help us with our inquiries.

“In addition, I would advise the public to seek alternative routes at this time.”
