2011_10 Police signs 5

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision at the roundabout junction of Colinton Road at Oxgangs Road North which  occurred around 12.45am this morning when a black Mercedes A200 collided with a wall and overturned.

The Scottish Ambulance Service and Scottish Fire & Rescue Service also attended, and the 20-year-old male driver was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he remains in a serious condition.

Road closures were put in place and all carriageways, except one lane southbound, were reopened around 7am.

Sergeant Keith Denholm of Road Policing said: “Sadly, a young man has sustained extensive injuries as a result of this incident we’re urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the vehicle around the time of the collision, to get in touch.”
