Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was robbed in Calder Road around 2.15pm on Sunday.

The 77-year-old victim was walking towards a bus stop in the area when two men approached her.

At this time one of the men grabbed the woman’s handbag before the pair made off from the area.

Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their inquiries to come forward.

The suspects are both described as being white, in their teens, around 5ft 2ins tall with medium to stocky builds and wearing dark hooded tops. One of the males was carrying a large green rucksack.

Detective Constable Mark McGraw from Corstorphine Police Station said: “This was a very distressing experience for the victim but thankfully she was not left injured as a result.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who was in Calder Road on Sunday afternoon and remembers seeing anything suspicious or who can help us identify the suspects.

“In addition anyone with any information that can help with our investigation is also asked to contact police immediately.”
