A young man was seriously assaulted in Hanover Street near to Garibaldi’s nightclub on Saturday 28 November around 3am. Police are appealing for witnesses and have issued some CCTV images.
Police are keen to speak with a man who they believe may be able to help them with their enquiries. He is described as a white male, early 20’s, around 6ft, slim build, with short brown hair. He was wearing a white shirt, red tie and black suit.
Detective Constable Graham McIlwraith, of Gayfield Police Station, said: “This appears to have been an entirely unprovoked attack leaving the victim requiring treatment for an injury to his face.
“Given the time at which this incident took place, there were potentially a number of people leaving the various establishments in Hanover Street who may have witnessed the incident.”
“Anyone who witnessed the assault or who can help identify the man pictured is asked to contact police immediately.”
