Portobello Community CouncilĀ meets on Monday evening ā€“ 25 January – in Portobello Baptist Church Hall at 7.30pm.Ā  Everybody is welcome.

Missed the boat for the Virgin Money London Marathon this year? Never fear, there is still a chance for you to take part in the run of a lifetime by running the Edinburgh Marathon for Barnardoā€™s Scotland!

On Sunday 29thĀ May, an estimated 30,000 runners will take to the streets of Edinburgh egged on by thousands of cheering spectators.

Johnny Wells from Edinburgh, who has previously taken part on the challenge, said:Ā ā€œI wanted to mark getting older by doing something that would challenge me and so I could check I still had it, whatever it is.

“Although at times it was hard to arrange the training schedule around my other commitments, I look back with fond memories on my training runs, being outside, discovering new parts of Edinburgh and many awe-inspiring views I wouldnā€™t have seen otherwise.

“On the day, I had lots of self-doubt at the start but just went at a steady pace, high fiving every child with their hand out and accepting many jelly babies from spectators. Come the end, I was still going strong and managed a sprint to finish off a great day out supporting Barnardoā€™s Scotland.ā€

If you would like to take up one of the places or are already running for Barnardoā€™s Scotland, contact Jordyn on 0131 446 7021 orjordyn.armstrong@barnardos.org.ukĀ or visitwww.barnardos.org.uk/edinburghmarathon. All runners will receive a running vest and sponsorship pack on registration with Barnardoā€™s Scotland. Registration must take place before 4thĀ May.
