Police  have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a suspected housebreaking in the Silverknowes Brae area yesterday.

The man was arrested after officers from the national housebreaking taskforce, Operation RAC were alerted to suspicious activity in the area.

A number of police vehicles responded and the dog handler was deployed along with PD Harper to detain the suspect from a garden.  Officers are currently pursuing positive lines of inquiry in relation to one other suspect.

Inspector Neil Whiteside said: “Through Operation RAC we are continuing to use all available resources at our disposal to pursue perpetrators of acquisitive crime and put them before the courts.

“While this was another example of that strategy paying off, I would also like to urge the public to ensure they make their homes and belongings as secure as possible.

“For advice on safeguarding your property please speak to a local officer, contact Police Scotland on 101 or visit the Police Scotland website.”
