Hibernian Ladies have made three new signings –  Abbi Grant from Glasgow City, Rachel McLauchlan from Aberdeen and Sarah Ewens from Spartans.

Manager Chris Roberts told the club website:  “I’m delighted that the girls have all agreed to join us because they are all fantastic additions to the team.

“We have targeted our recruitment on bringing in players that were good enough to go straight into our side and make a big impact, as well as fitting into our style and philosophy.

“By signing Rachel, Sarah and Abbi, we have created even more competition for places in what I believe is the most exciting squad I have worked with since joining the club five years ago.

Rachael McLaughlan said: “From playing against them and seeing how they play it was definitely something I was keen to be involved in.

“They seem like a tight-knit group and I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Sarah Ewens said “I wanted to progress and it was a great opportunity – they’ve such a strong squad and you can see how well they did last season.

“They’re constantly growing and I wanted to be a part of it.”

Abbi Grant said: “Everyone will enjoy it (Champions League football). It’s going to be tough – the standard is at an international level but it’s exciting to be involved in.”

Roberts has also strengthened his backroom team by bringing in  former Heart of Midlothian manager Kevin Milne as a Technical Coach.

Roberts added: “Kevin has done an incredible job at Hearts, coaching the team through the divisions and into the SWPL for the first time.

“His knowledge and talent as a coach will be a huge asset to the players, myself and Claire [Ditchburn].

“As a club we want to create the best possible environment for players to improve and this role will certainly help that.”
