Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault on Lochrin Terrace which took place shortly after midnight on Sunday morning.

Two women were walking along Home Street when they saw four men arguing with another man at the junction of Lochrin Terrace. The 31-year-old woman approached the group and challenged the four men.

The group continued to argue with the man, reaching the junction at West Tollcross, before the woman was assaulted by one of the men.

The four men then left along Ponton Street, turning left onto Fountainbridge, and were lost to sight along Gardeners Crescent.

The woman was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with facial injuries.

The suspect is described as a white man with a tanned complexion, 5ft 10inches tall, and 23 – 26 years old. He had a stocky build and dark hair with shaved sides. He was wearing a black or navy polo shift and navy/blue jeans.

The second man is described as white, 5ft 8inches tall, with a heavy build. He had a baldhead and sticking-out ears. He was wearing jeans, black long-sleeved jumper/polo shirt.

All four are described as having Glaswegian or west coast accents.

DC John McShane of Craigmillar CID said: “This was an extremely distressing incident for the victim and we’re urging anyone who may have witnessed this attack, or recognises the descriptions of the men, to come forward.”
