Queenie
The Scottish SPCA is seeking the owner of a lost cockatiel who landed at Holyrood Palace.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted on Thursday (21 April) when the bird was spotted in the palace grounds by guards.
The cockatiel, who has been nicknamed Queenie, is now in the care of the Scottish SPCA’s animal rescue and rehoming centre in Balerno.
Animal Rescue Officer Steph Grant said, “It was quite funny that the cockatiel landed in the grounds of the palace on the Queen’s 90th birthday.
“With the lovely weather we’ve been enjoying, it’s quite likely she escaped from home after her owner left a door or window open.
“We’d love to reunite Queenie with her owner and we’re sure they’ll be surprised to learn where she was found.
“If no-one comes forward for Queenie we’ll find her a suitable new home.”
Anyone who recognises Queenie is being asked to contact the Scottish SPCA’s Edinburgh centre on 03000 999 999.
