Marsh was sentenced to three years in prison having been convicted of assault and abduction, while Murphy was give four and a half years for assault, abduction and drugs offences.

Detective Inspector Alan O’Brien from Edinburgh’s Proactive Unit said: “These men have demonstrated their willingness to use violence and intimidation and are linked to organised crime in the Merseyside area.

“As a result of the evidence gathered against both individuals during our investigation, both have been given considerable custodial sentences and this should serve as a warning to anyone involved in serious and organised crime.

“Police Scotland is committed to tackling all crimes of this nature and we work closely with the public and our relevant partners to identify offenders and remove them from our communities.”
