Police have recovered £20,000 worth of cannabis in Livingston after the Community Action Team executed a warrant at an address in Watson Green last Friday.

A cultivation of 51 plants, around 340g of cannabis buds and various drug paraphernalia were found within a flat.

Chief Inspector Stevie Dolan said: “The sale and use of drugs is detrimental to an entire community and tackling this is a priority in West Lothian.

“Thanks to the good work of the Community Action Team, who are deployed to support local officers in tackling your concerns, a significant amount of cannabis has been seized.

“We’re committed to acting on information we receive from the public and would urge anyone with concerns about drugs in their community to get in touch.”

Executive councillor for services for the community, George Paul commented: “West Lothian Council has invested nearly £680,000 of West Lothian Council tax payers’ money this year to help fund an additional 21 police officers for West Lothian. This is a significant result for the Community Action Team and I would like to congratulate them.

“This is part of ongoing work which is being undertaken to ensure that West Lothian remains a safe place to live and visit. Drugs destroy families and communities and it is good news that those recovered by the police in this operation will not reach the streets of West Lothian.”

Enquiries are currently ongoing and anyone with information about this is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
