This year the Edinburgh International Film Festival celebrates its 70th anniversary. And they are going to celebrate it with a cake baked by Great British Bake Off semi-finalist Flora Shedden.

This three tier sugary concoction has been created with Graham’s The Family Dairy butter, Dunked blossom honey, Scottish raspberries and strawberries and the bottom tier is made of Millionaire’s Shortbread.

The outside is decorated with a silhouette of Edinburgh Castle and gold stars and sparklers to represent the excitement of the Festival which begins next month.

Flora Shedden, said: “I was delighted to be asked to make a cake in celebration of the Festival’s 70th edition. I wanted to create something using locally sourced Scottish produce which would be visually stunning, taste utterly delicious, and look quite unforgettable.  I decided on the soft and simple flavours of the honey, mixed with the tart, sweet taste of the raspberry and strawberries, complemented with the rich and luxurious millionaire shortbread for an extra special cake.  I hope everyone enjoys it!”

Mark Adams, Artistic Director of Edinburgh International Film Festival, said: “What a delicious and delightfully tasty treat!  We know that Flora is a film fan and a regular at the Festival, and this special cake makes for a fantastic 70th edition delicacy.”

The cake will be served to guests attending tomorrow’s official Festival Programme Launch in Edinburgh. The Edinburgh Reporter will be there – and can’t wait to tell you what it tastes like!
