Police have released CCTV images of a man they wish to trace in connection with a bogus workman incident that occurred on Wednesday 10 May at around 8.30pm at an address on Lauriston Place in Edinburgh.
A 70-year-old man was within the property when he answered the door to a man claiming to represent a local authority that required to access the premises.
The elderly gentleman refused and the man then attempted to force entry to the property.
An extensive investigation is now underway in an effort to trace the person responsible.
Officers are keen to hear from anyone who can identify the man shown in this CCTV image as they believe that he may have information that will as assist them with their investigation.
He is described as white, of medium build, aged between 22 and 27 years old and with short brown hair.
At around the time of the incident, he was seen making his way towards Tollcross and he was wearing blue jeans with a high visibility jacket.
Detective Constable Watson who is based at Gayfield Police Station said: “If anyone recognises this individual, or has information that can assist with our ongoing investigation or who may have concerns about possible fraudulent workmen, then I urge them to please contact police immediately.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively a report can be submitted anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
