Scotland star Rachael Small has signed for Hibernian Ladies from Aberdeen Ladies.

The left back, 24, has played 28 times for the Scotland Women’s National Team, and will join up with the team ahead of the league restart on Sunday 31 July.

Rachael is the fiancée of Hibernian player Martin Boyle, and is looking forward to starting having recently moved to the capital.

She said: “I’m thrilled to be joining, Hibernian are a big club in both men’s and women’s football. I’ve played against them for many years now and they’ve always been ranked as one of the top teams in Scotland. To be here is a privilege and I am looking forward to getting started.”

“I’ve just come back from injury, I’ve been out for six weeks with a niggling knee injury, so my fitness is not where it wants to be, so I’m going to be using this mini pre-season to get fit and start competing for a place at Hibernian.

“I know it is going to be a tough ask as they have won the League Cup and are competing on all fronts, and with Europe round the corner everybody is fighting fit and going for those positions. It’s going to be a big task, but it’s one that I’m looking forward to.”

Head Coach Chris Roberts was similarly delighted with the side’s latest recruit.

He said: “Rachael is a fantastic talent, she is a player that everyone in the league knows well and one I’ve known for a long time.

“She has played at a high level domestically and has started for Scotland numerous times, so it’s a huge acquisition for the Club and a great addition for the team because she fits in with our style of play and has settled in really well in training this week.”
