2011_10 Police signs 12

A police investigation is underway after an 87-year-old man was found with facial injuries on a footpath between Straiton pond and Loanhead railway path in Midlothian on Wednesday evening.

The man is now recovering at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and police are appealing for anyone who witnessed anything unusual in the area at around 6pm to get in touch.

Police Sergeant Bryan Jones said: “This man sustained a painful injury and we are eager to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“Anyone who was in the Straiton Pond area last night and saw anything relevant to our enquiries is asked to contact police immediately.”
