Hibs’ new loan signing Andrew Shinnie is delighted to have returned to Scotland to further his career after his game time at Birmingham City became limited.

The former Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder is looking forward to helping Hibs back into the top flight and already he has been impressed with the quality of the squad and the training facilities.

Speaking to Hibs TV, he said: “ I am absolutely delighted to join such a big club as Hibernian. It took a little bit of time to get things done and took some thinking about but I made the right decision and I am delighted to be here.

“I’d done a pre-season at Birmingham but my game time was limited last season and I knew half way though pre-season that it was going to be similar so I decided to try and get out on loan and play football again and see what my options were. Hibs were an option and it’s the one I chose.

“I was here in pre-season and I took part in the game and Hibs played very well that day. The stadium was lovely, the pitch was great and I got good vibes from it.

“I played here before from my past days in Scotland. I know how big a club this is, how big the fanbase is and a lot of factors came into account.

“I want to give what I can to Hibs and get them back to where they belong because this club should be in the top flight.

“I know a few of the lads here and it’s quite a good squad. I was quite surprised about how big and good the squad is.

“I had two loan spells with Dundee in the league below the top flight so I’m used to it.

“Playing at Easter Road was always a game you looked forward to as the stadium is one of the nicest in the league and it was always an enjoyable game so I know how big a club this is.

“It’s a fantastic training ground. I was a bot surprised about how good it is to be honest. That was another factor because in Scotland it’s a bit rare to have your own training facility and Hibs have a state of the art facility and somewhere I will enjoy coming to every day.”
