Two people have been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act after police in East Lothian recovered Class B drugs in Tranent.

Officers from the Proactive CID and East Lothian Community Action Team carried out a search of a property in Fullerton’s Brae on Friday 5th August where £2,000 worth of cannabis was seized from the address.

A man aged 29 and a 26-year-old woman have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal and will appear in court at a later date.

Chief Inspector Matt Paden, Local Area Commander for East Lothian said: “Everyday, we gather intelligence on those involved in drug crime within East Lothian and regularly carry out activity like this to seize harmful substances before they can make their way into our communities.

“I would continue to urge the public to come forward with information relating to ongoing drug offences in their area so we can investigate thoroughly and respond accordingly.”
