Police have confirmed that the death a man found unconscious in a garden at the rear of a house in Salters Road, Dalkeith, on Saturday morning is not being treated as suspicious.

It is understood the man died after suffering complications from an underlying health condition.

A police spokesman said: “Officers were alerted to an address in Salters Road, Dalkeith, at around 7am on Saturday, August 27, after receiving a report of concern for a male occupant.

“Upon arrival officers discovered a 25-year-old male lying unconscious in the rear garden.

“He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he sadly passed away.

“We are not treating this death as suspicious at this time and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
