Police  have seized over £50,000 worth of Class B drugs from a property in Dalkeith.

Acting on intelligence, officers from the Community Action Team executed a warrant at a house in Barley Bree Lane on Friday 19 August.

A cultivation of 71 plants, with a maximum estimated street value of £53,000, was recovered.

A quantity of herbal cannabis worth around £2,000 and £1,600 in cash were also seized.

A 34-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man have been arrested in connection with this and appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday 22 August.

Sgt Colin Mcdonald of Loanhead said: “This was an extensive cultivation spanning several rooms and worth a significant quantity of money.

“We will act on all information we receive from the public and if you have concerns about drug misuse in your community then please get in touch.”
