Property professionals from all over the UK took over the streets of the Scottish capital and showed they were good sports in a 5k charity race organised by Aberdeen Asset Management.

The firm’s property team staged its second 5K race for Wooden Spoon, the rugby charity which supports children, in Edinburgh earlier this month.

More than 200 property sector professionals signed up for the second race to be organised by Aberdeen Asset Management’s property team, which is one of the largest investors in the UK property market.

Some competitors donned fancy dress for the occasion and all participants enjoyed fantastic views of some of Edinburgh’s most iconic landmarks, including the castle, Holyrood Palace, Royal Mile and Scottish Parliament.
Aberdeen Asset Management property team colleagues Laura Hughes and Elaine McCann organised the race for the second year running as part of a series of fundraising efforts for Wooden Spoon which funds life-changing projects across the UK and Ireland to support disadvantaged and disabled children.

Laura said: “The atmosphere on the day was fantastic. We had 200 registered and we were extremely lucky with the weather.

“We had surveyors, investors and consultants from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh. We’re delighted that the race has raised in excess of £7,000 so far, with donations still coming in, and we’d like to thank everyone for their generous support.”

Repeating his triumph of last year, first over the finish line was Graham Evans from Cushman and Wakefield with a time of 18 mins 23 secs. He was slower than last year (17 mins 20 secs) possibly due to the humid conditions which was reflected in most runners’ times.

First female Caitlin McKenzie from MacRoberts LLP in 21 mins 20 secs.
The Cushman and Wakefield team – Graham Evans, Stuart Low, David Davidson and Ollie Barron – lifted the award for winning team for the second year in a row.

In fancy dress, the team from Addleshaw Goddard was crowned Queen of the ladies and Aberdeen Asset Management’s Nick Johnston was King.
Wooden Spoon’s Scottish representative is rugby legend Gavin Hastings who fired the starting gun last year, this time round it was Edinburgh rugby player Alasdair Dickinson who did the honours and Charlie Bryden, Scottish President of the Wooden Spoon charity, presented prizes.
