A police investigation is underway after fireworks were set off in Trinity Academy this afternoon as pupils were preparing to leave for the day.

No one was injured in the incident and the school has since tweeted to say that there was “no place for this behaviour” and indicated that the culprits had been identified and the police were involved.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Edinburgh were called to a secondary school in the north of the city at around midday on Friday, September 23 after three fireworks were set off.

“No one was injured in the incident and there is no ongoing risk to pupils or staff. Officers are currently pursuing a positive line of inquiry in relation to this matter.”
