2011_10 Police signs 12

A police investigation is underway following the report of a serious sexual assault at a bus stop in Edinburgh city centre.

The incident took place on Lothian Road, near its junction with Princes Street, in the early hours of this morning.

Officers have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

A police spokesman said: “Police in Edinburgh are investigating following a report of a serious sexual assault, which occurred during the early hours of Tuesday in the Lothian Road area of the city.

“Inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing and anyone with information that can assist officers with their investigation is asked to come forward.”
